Universal Studios Hollywood Annual Day of Giving with Operation School Bell
Last week, Universal Studios Hollywood had their 14th annual “Day of Giving.” I actually just found out this year that Universal Studios Hollywood partakes in this annual event in partnership with Operation School Bell, and was so inspired hearing more about this employee volunteer initiative.
Each year, Universal Studios Hollywood employees volunteer to pay it forward by welcoming 300 homeless school children from Operation School Bell for a “Day of Giving.” The day starts off with children of various ages arriving in school buses, to be given new clothing for a week of school, new shoes, new backpacks and school supplies, and new books!
The employee volunteers were the ones who were helping kids pick out the new books suited to the children’s interests, and fitting them with new shoes. It was so amazing to see the joy on not only the employees’ faces who were helping be part of the “Day of Giving” philanthropy event, but also to see how excited the children were to have a day just for them!
After receiving their new items, they were all treated to a day of fun at Universal Studios Hollywood, where they could visit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Super Silly Fun Land, the Despicable Me Minion Mayhem ride, and take the world-famous Universal Studio Tour!
Universal Studios Hollywood employee Karen said, “Today is not just a day of giving, but today is a day of restoration.”
