The Nutcracker and the Four Realms Mother-Daughter Day!

Ever since Disney’s The Nutcracker and the Four Realms posters and billboards have been appearing, my daughter has pointed them out saying she wants to go see the movie with me! Well, this weekend we finally did it! Since Amelia had been so excited to see Disney’s The Nutcracker, I wanted to make the day an extra special mother-daughter day of Nutcracker fun.

We started off by seeing the movie at the historic El Capitan Theater in Hollywood! We strolled along the Hollywood Walk of Fame until we saw the giant marquee that said “The Nutcracker and the Four Realms”. Before the movie, we stopped by the Studio Store to see all the latest Disney merch, then headed inside to get our popcorn buckets and drink (which come with a VIP reserved seating ticket).

At showtime before The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, there are special dance performances by different Southern California dance ensembles. Before our showing, we had the pleasure of seeing the LA Dance Ensemble perform. Also before the movie, you have the opportunity to go up on the stage and take a picture! Then of course it was time for the movie! My daughter was absolutely enchanted with this magical film like I was. Her absolute favorite part is when Misty Copeland dances as The Ballerina!
After we had a morning of seeing the film at El Capitan, we headed home for some quality stay-at-home mother-daughter time. We began with at-home manicures with the new The Nutcracker OPI nail polish collection! I chose Candied Kingdom, topped with I Pull the Strings glitter on top (it’s a combo of rose gold, silver, and gold glitter – I absolutely love this one!) My daughter chose Lavendare to Find Courage with I Pull the Strings glitter polish on top as well. The collection has some amazing colors, you can’t go wrong with this as a gift for any nail polish lover! You can find the whole collection here.

Next, we decided to get cozy by making some of the Republic of Tea Ginger Plum Tea. It has a subtly sweet, rich flavor. One that both myself and my 3-year-old enjoyed. It smells amazing, and is the perfect cup of tea for a cozy night in! Plus the tin is so beautiful, it would make for a great tin to keep trinkets in once you’ve used up all the tea bags.

Before bath time and getting ready for bed, Amelia and I lit my favorite The Nutcracker and the Four Realms Glade candle scent, Nutcracker Delight while reading The Nutcracker and the Four Realms: The Dance of the Realms picture book, which focuses on Misty Copeland‘s The Ballerina character from the film. The illustrations are stunning, and the perfect thing to read before your little one goes to bed for the night! The book is quickly becoming one of my daughter’s favorites, she is now always pretending to be the ballerina from the film during playtime!

Disney’s The Nutcracker and the Four Realms is now playing in theaters, it’s is the perfect family holiday outing! You can read my spoiler-free review of the movie here, and download some free coloring pages and activity sheets to have more family fun after seeing the film!
