Nowadays, more and more people are making it a priority to know what is in the food they eat. This has also led to a bigger push for natural foods, Paleo foods, Whole 30 foods, and meal delivery services. There are two kinds of meal delivery services: Ones where you receive ingredients and a recipe to make a gourmet meal, and ones where you can have a delicious gourmet meal that’s already prepared delivered to you, where all you have to do is heat in the oven or stove top and it’s ready to enjoy! With my schedule becoming increasingly busy, especially with a toddler, I was finding that I didn’t have time to cook and chop vegetables. I didn’t want to necessarily eat out, since I like to know what’s in my food, and I like a healthy, homemade quality to my meals. I had been hearing a lot about the Southern California-based meal delivery service Model Meals. Model Meals has a wide variety of meals and snacks that are vegetarian, dairy-free, organic, Whole 30, Paleo…the works!

My Menu For the Week

So I was ready to give Model Meals a try! Since I primarily eat vegetarian or vegan, I ordered mainly the plant-based entree dishes, but ordered a few dishes with a meat entree for my husband. We tried:

  • Sweet potato toast with house made almond butter and preserves for breakfast
  • Thai vegetable curry for dinner
  • Chicken pot pie
  • Zoodles with meatballs
  • Monkey bites (energy bites for a snack)

With the selection I made, we had a lot of variety. Something I enjoy about Model Meals is that instead of getting a random set of meals sent to you, they have a new weekly menu where you can select the items and quantities to choose from. This means you are more in control of the price, the frequency, and the types of meals you order.

I had been wanting to try sweet potato toast for a while after seeing it all over Instagram, and it was everything I hoped for! It gave me protein to fuel my morning, was sweet, and tasted delicious even though it was healthy, and none of the toppings had artificial ingredients!

The Monkey Bites were full of banana flavor, and were so tasty yet full of good fats and fruit that it was perfect for either a pre-workout snack or a dessert to satisfy my sweet tooth! They were so amazing I wish I ordered a larger quantity!

The Thai vegetable curry felt like healthy comfort food, with green beans, carrots, sweet potato, and a delicious creamy Thai sauce. Even though this is a meat-free, dairy-free meal, my non-vegetarian husband loved it!

I have always loved making zoodles at home, but could never get the perfect al dente texture. Model Meal’s zoodles with meatballs had that perfect al dente texture, and the sauce was perfect and full of flavor!

The chicken pot pie is perfect if you’re following Paleo or Whole 30, or are gluten-free. It is a grain-free chicken pot pie, and has potatoes as the topper instead. My husband said it was his favorite meal of the week!
