Enjoy a Magical Holiday Outing at L.A. Zoo Lights
Even in sunny Los Angeles, there are several opportunities to experience the joys of the holiday season. One of my family’s favorite annual events is the L.A. Zoo Lights at the Los Angeles Zoo in the famous Griffith Park!
After the animals go to sleep for the night, the L.A. Zoo literally lights up for the holidays, spreading Holiday Cheer throughout the zoo grounds with thousands of LED lights. Not only that, but the overlay offers Angelenos one of the only opportunities to see real, live reindeer in the Zoo’s “Reindeer Village” habitat. Expert reindeer keepers are on hand, giving guests wonderful education and teaching about the herd, even offering guest up-close viewings during their feedings. Not far off, guests can even get a picture with the man of the season himself, Santa Claus, at a rustic North Pole set-up.
Aside from the rare chance to see Santa’s reindeers, the L.A. Zoo features several different themed areas displaying bright and state-of-the-art light installations, from disco ball forests, to the immersive Twinkle Tunnel, to the glowing “Northern Lights” display, where star constellations transform in front of you into animated animals. With the beautifully lighted Christmas Tree at the front of the park, as well as a dramatic light and water show, there couldn’t be a better family outing to celebrate the holidays in the Hollywood Hills.
L.A. Zoo Lights is happening nightly from now until January 6, 2019. This is the perfect way to spend an affordable night out with your family in Los Angeles! Getting fresh air, and seeing magical holiday lights! You can find tickets here.
