My Experience With Green Chef Vegan Meals
It’s no secret I love plant-based meals, and I LOVE cooking at home! Like often happens with the hustle-and-bustle of life, it can be easy to cook the same things over and over again that you know how to make and are easy to pick up the ingredients for. But sometimes, I wish I could change it up at home. I crave wanting to know the perfect recipes without having to do tons of Google searching or ingredient-buying. Since I was hoping to make plant-based meals at home that satisfied my foodie side while not having to spend tons of time making grocery store lists and ingredient shopping, I decided to try Green Chef.
Green Chef, the meal kit delivery service offers boxes filled with recipes and ingredients for any kind of lifestyle, the vegan and vegetarian boxes being two of their options (you can try it yourself for $75 off by visiting this link). I received the 2-person box, which had 3 different recipes (six servings total). For my three meals the week I ordered, I had Veggie Pad Thai, Black Bean & Mushroom Enchiladas and a Bavarian Power Bowl. Each recipe came with ingredients that were pre-measured to fit the recipe given, and were separated into individual bags by recipe. It was delightfully easy to open up my Green Chef box, pull out the bags and just stick them in the fridge for when I was ready to get cooking!
I first tried the Veggie Pad Thai. It took only about 35 minutes from start to finish. Even if you’re new to cooking, using Green Chef I found was easy, since the recipe card includes a photo for each step, so you can compare to make sure things are going along smoothly. The steps are also super simple to understand, with nothing complicated or advanced cooking jargon thrown in the mix. Something I was pleasantly surprised about too? Each of the recipes turned out to look just like the finished dish on the recipe card! I thought for sure it wouldn’t look nearly as picture perfect but their recipe steps made it result exactly as pictured! Plus these meals were delicious!
Often times vegan meals can all be cold dishes or salads. I’m more someone who enjoys a warm, comforting dish. I loved that Green Chef made their plant-based meals hearty, yet light and delicious rather than the stereotypical “vegan salad” that are typically served at restaurants as the plant-based option. Above all, I found that getting to easily have all the ingredients and recipes directly in hand I enjoyed the cooking process and found it therapeutic even to be in the kitchen cooking these recipes!
