With summer coming around the corner, I have been craving spicy foods! There’s just something about spicy foods that make me think of summer nights at the beach or having delicious grilled food. Being a vegan, I always want to have a nice black bean burger patty when I’m craving something spicy. I always buy a frozen patty, but now that I recently got a Ninja Nutri Bowl system, I wanted to make black bean burgers myself. Making them from scratch allows me to know 100% what ingredients are in my food, and also allows me to make my patties as spicy as I want. Prior to having my Ninja Nutri Bowl, I struggled getting my burger patties to be the right consistency just from using a blender. The Nutri Bowl system processes ingredients in a way that really fuses them together, very ideal for a veggie or bean burger patty!

Ingredients:

Makes 2 large black bean burger patties.

  • 1 16-oz can of black beans, drained and rinsed.
  • 1/2 Tbsp of chili powder
  • 1/2 Tbsp of garlic powder
  • 1 Tbsp of Sriracha sauce
  • 1/4 cup of vegan whole wheat bread, torn in chunks (or oatmeal. Using bread will give you a heartier patty)

Instructions:

  1. Place your ingredients in your Ninja Nutri Bowl mixer: First bread, then black beans, then powders and sauces.
  2. Blend on Boost Yes and on the Chop setting.
  3. Using your hands form the mix into patties, and cook in oil on medium heat for 8-10 minutes on each side.
  4. Serve with toppings of your choice! I liked balancing the spiciness of the burger with cilantro and mango salsa on top!
