Disclosure: My visit to Sheraton Fisherman’s Wharf was hosted, but all thoughts and opinions were my own.
The Best Family Friendly Hotel San Francisco – Sheraton Fisherman’s Wharf
San Francisco, without a doubt is one of my favorite cities in the world. I have visited four times this year, and many times before then, but my most recent trip was the first time I went with my four-year-old daughter. I’ve stayed in a few different areas with in San Francisco, but had never before stayed in the Fisherman‘s Wharf area. For my first visit with my daughter, we ended up staying at Sheraton Fisherman‘s Wharf located within walking distance of Pier 39. Practically across the street, as a matter of fact!
With so many restaurants and shops, as well as a carousel and sea lion viewing available at Pier 39, we figured that staying near Fisherman’s Wharf would be the best place to be with our daughter while visiting San Francisco. Just the next street over from the main drag where Pier 39 is located, you can find Sheraton Fisherman‘s Wharf. The rooms are fantastic because they have two queen bed‘s in many of their rooms, which can sometimes be hard to find in San Francisco. It also has a flatscreen TV, movies on demand, and air conditioning. I have shared on my Twitter feed often that I have trouble sleeping but I never had trouble falling asleep at the Sheraton. The beds were incredibly comfortable. I was super impressed with their renovated rooms.
And of course with my occupation being a blogger, and my husband’s occupation being a graphic artist we are always needing to use her electronics. On either side of the headboard they had plenty of outlets, both traditional three prong plugs and USB plugs. It made it incredibly easy to be able to charge a ton of devices at once and while using them.
The bathrooms had a nice size closet where we were also able to store our suitcases. Of course you know all know that I love themed outfits and I was able to hang up many of my clothes to prevent them from being wrinkled over the course of my stay, since they had plenty of hangers.
Our room had a view of the pool. At first I was afraid that maybe it would get very loud since we were just located one floor above the swimming pool, but the windows were good enough that I was not disturbed by any of the noise happening in the pool area. Which brings me to the next point – we need to talk about Sheraton Fisherman’s Wharf’s pool area! The pool area had a lovely boardwalk wood style deck, complete with a comfortable lounge area and fire pit. The weather was a little breezy, so I thought it would be too cold to swim but the pool was very well heated, making it easy for us to go swimming every day.
When previously looking at hotels in San Francisco I did notice that there weren’t a lot of hotels that had outdoor pools. So the fact that this hotel had queen beds versus double beds as well as outdoor pools instead of indoor pools made this a big win for our family!
To make Sheraton Fisherman‘s Wharf even more perfect, this hotel also has a full bar and restaurant. Their restaurant called Northpoint, is also newly renovated and serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Their dinner had plenty of vegetarian options, with my favorite items being their avocado toast starter and their vegetarian Ramen bowl as an entrée. You can also order any of these items as room service.
The restaurant has indoor seating, as well as outdoor seating on comfortable couches surrounding a fire pit where you can feel the ocean breezes from Pier 39. One of the reasons why this is my favorite hotel to stay as a family is that it’s within walking distance as many surrounding kid friendly attractions. We were able to walk right over to Pier 39 where we could take a look at sea lions that we’re hanging out by the docks. My daughter absolutely loved that! Or we could go to one of the many family friendly restaurants located at Pier 39, as well as stores such as build a bear. They also had bay cruises that you could take that project from Pier 39, and an amazing double decker carousel that is reminiscent of the carousels in Paris.
So basically, if you are wanting to travel with kids and you don’t want to have to take public transportation because you need a car seat, Sheraton Fisherman’s Wharf is the perfect hotel. It has plenty of shops and restaurants nearby, a pool and a comfortable bed within the hotel, and long walks along the bay. It’s a great area to be able to take take a stroller to many places without having to get in and out of your car and finding parking in the city. Also note that there is a daily charge for parking at Sheraton, which is very common among San Francisco hotels as well as it resort fee. My daughter absolutely loved our stay and she said it was one of her favorite hotels we’ve ever been to, which says a lot since she has traveled quite a bit. It would definitely be the place that I would go to when I travel again as a family to San Francisco, California. Click here to learn more and book your stay!
