Family Fun at Orange County's Santa Ana Zoo - Favorite Exhibits, What to do with toddlers, and what our favorite healthy snacks are to bring

Earlier this month, I talked about how Stonyfield Organic Yogurt is partnering with the non-profit AZA SAFE (Saving Animals from Extinction) to help give back to endangered species. On Stonyfield’s YoKids product line, this year you will see a variety of beautiful species on the packaging, helping promote awareness of AZA SAFE and the endangered species. Throughout the year, Stonyfield will be contributing funds for the non-profit’s research and conservation efforts. When you purchase any two Stonyfield YoKids with the special packaging, there will be an on-pack offer to receive a children’s zoo admission free with the purchase of an adult ticket¬†visit any of the 131 participating AZA accredited zoos and aquariums. To help celebrate this amazing cause, I took a trip to my local Orange County AZA zoo: Santa Ana Zoo, packing us Stonyfield YoKids Squeezers in strawberry as a healthy zoo snack!

The Santa Ana Zoo was the perfect place to take our toddler! It’s not hilly, and there are plenty of trees and shade, making it easy to have our toddler walk and run freely. This Orange County gem is filled with animals we love to see; with our favorites being the camels, giant anteaters, and of course the wide variety of monkeys that Santa Ana Zoo famously house.

Not only do the wide variety of monkeys and other animals make the Santa Ana Zoo a fun place to spend an afternoon, but there are plenty of interactive and play areas for young children, that our two-year-old loved. There’s a playground, an explorer hut, and my daughter’s personal favorite: a safari Jeep photo opp!

Another great area for young children is the Crean Family Farm section of the zoo, with lots of educational exhibits, farm animals, a carousel, and a train! After spending a few hours at the zoo exploring and playing, we ended the day relaxing on a bench admiring the Tierra de las Pampas exhibit, while we enjoyed our organic strawberry Stonyfield YoKids Squeezers!

It was the perfect end, to the perfect day, with good and healthy snacking, sunshine, animals, and educational family fun, you can’t go wrong!
