Salt & Straw Vegandulgence Menu at Downtown Disney!

Salt & Straw recently made a big announcement on Instagram: All of their locations will have a Vegandulgence menu for January, and for the rest of 2019 they are dedicating 20% of their menu to plant-based, dairy-free ice cream! I went to the new Downtown Disney Anaheim location to check out the Salt & Straw Vegandulgence menu, to find three flavors:

  • Toasted Coconut Milk & Cookies
  • The Elvis Peanut Butter Banana Split
  • Oatmeal Moon Pies with Aquafaba Marshmallows

Something else I found out? If you are craving vegan ice cream in a cone versus a dish, the sugar cone is vegan! Here is my review of each of the Vegandulgence menu options:

First up, the Elvis Peanut Butter Banana Split. It’s banana flavored ice cream with LOTS of jelly, and a hint of peanut butter (I definitely tasted the jelly more than the peanut butter). I liked this flavor, but it was my least favorite of the three. I would definitely recommend getting it in a cup, as I realized it was a very melty ice cream that was hard to have in a cone!

Next up, Oatmeal Moon Pie with marshmallow. This was my daughter’s favorite, and was very creamy and chocolatey! I loved the big chunks of cookie in it! I would definitely get it again!

Lastly, we tried the Toasted Coconut with Cookies. This one surprised me as my favorite! It didn’t taste much like marshmallows, but had big chunks of fudgy chocolate in it, and big chunks of cookie! I love chunky ice creams, so it was amazing!

Overall, what really impressed me with the Salt & Straw Vegandulgence menu was how REAL and creamy the flavors were. Often vegan ice creams can be overly icey in texture, and not very creamy. These definitely tasted like a true ice cream. I feel like the Oatmeal Moon Pie is going to be the overall crowd pleasure, and the Toasted coconut and Cookies was my favorite. The Elvis Peanut Butter Banana Split was fine, but probably not one I would order again. You can check out the vegan flavors for February 2019 here for the Downtown Disney Anaheim location!
