The El Capitan Theatre Throwback Month Kicks Off!

From August 30 through September 23rd, the historic El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood will be having a throwback series of movies playing! Disney cast members voted on their favorite throwback movies, and selected these for the month:

  • August 30-September 3rd: Who Framed Roger Rabbit
  • September 6-September 9th: Enchanted
  • September 13th Double Feature night at 7pm: The Absent Minded Professor + Flubber
  • September 14-September 16th: Flubber
  • September 20-September 23rd: Up

For the first evening kicking off Throwback Month, my family saw Who Framed Roger Rabbit. For the special opening night, there was a panel of special guests…four animators who worked on the film: Tom Sito, Irene Parkins, Andreas Deja, and Nik Ranieri. They showed early concept drawings, the process of mixing animation and practical effects, and about working with various properties in one film (i.e. Mickey + Bugs Bunny, etc).

It was such a fun, nostalgic evening, and it is especially fun to watch a movie from your childhood with your child seeing it on the big screen for the first time! To get tickets for the upcoming Throwback screenings, visit The El Capitan Theatre’s website here or call the box office at 1-800-DISNEY6.
