The Ultimate Disney Fan Experience: Seeing Dumbo at El Capitan Theatre!
My family and I recently enjoyed seeing some classic Disney movies at the El Capitan Theatre, which ran from January and February for the Happily Ever After throwback series. We had the best time seeing some of the classic Disney movies for the first time on the big screen! Another special experience of course, is showing a Disney movie to your child for the very first time. My daughter has been seeing billboards and posters for Disney’s new live action adaptation of Dumbo all over the place, and has been asking to see it at her favorite theatre: El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood!
There’s nothing quite like attending the opening night fan events at El Capitan, where you’re in a theatre filled with fellow Disney fans (Plus, there’s always lots of special surprises in store). For the Dumbo opening night fan event we experienced last night, there were two special photo ops (which you can also experience the subsequent days of Dumbo showings). One is on the lower level of El Capitan Theatre, where you can see costumes and props from the movie on display while waiting for a circus poster-themed photo op. While we were waiting in line some of the pre-show circus performers came down to entertain us too, which was really special! In the main lobby, you can take a photo with Dumbo himself! He is just too cute for words!
Once we took our photos to commemorate our visit to El Capitan, we got the souvenir popcorn buckets you can get while supplies last. I can’t wait to brainstorm ways to use this at home for a cute decoration later! Once the movie was about to start, there was a fabulous pre-show. Before any showing at El Capitan Theatre, there’s always a themed pre-show, but I must say the one before Dumbo was the best one I had ever seen! There were four performers in a gorgeous and exciting performance to get you hyped for the movie!
We then got to enjoy popcorn and a Mickey-shaped pretzel while watching Dumbo with my daughter for the very first time. She really enjoyed it, and sat through the whole film with no problem (you can read my full spoiler-free review of the movie here). On our way out, we got a special souvenir. During the opening night fan events, there’s always a souvenir to go home with! We received a special Dumbo poster from the Poster Posse!
Before you head home for the night, be sure to stop in next door at the Disney Studio Store Hollywood to take a look at the merch they have themed to the current movie playing, and maybe grab a post-movie Ghiradelli treat! Dumbo will be playing at El Capitan Theatre through April 21st. You can get your tickets by visiting here.
