About El Americano
Americano is the story of a young Mexican parrot named Cuco (voice of Rico Rodriguez), the youngest in a family of legendary circus performers. While his father (voice of Edward James Olmos) prefers Cuco to focus on the traditional circus, Cuco spends his days watching his favorite superhero TV show, El Americano. When Cuco’s father is injured in a stunt, a rival gang threatens to take their circus and their legacy. Cuco then goes on a dangerous journey to find his hero, El Americano, travelling from Mexico to Hollywood.
The film is filled with vibrant and fun animated sequences, celebrating the music of Mexican culture. Rodriguez and Olmos headline a star-packed cast including Cheech Marin, Lisa Kudrow, Erik Estrada, and Gabriel Iglesias. There’s plenty of humor and adventure for little ones to enjoy, with a wonderful moral to find the hero within yourself. A Visit to the San Diego Zoo
In anticipation of the release of Americano, my family and I were able to visit the San Diego Zoo, and see clips from the movie and meet some of the filmmakers. Part of the movie takes place at San Diego Zoo, so this was the perfect setting for the event!
In listening to the filmmakers speak, it was clear to tell they are very passionate about this film, and in telling the story of a child with big dreams! Americano comes to DVD and Digital HD on June 13th.
